Pioneer Community Update 9/18
This was a message from DCSD sent to families on September 16th.
Dear DCSD Family,
Last night the Douglas County School District (DCSD) Board of Education voted unanimously to return our elementary students to full-time, in-person learning by a target date of October 19, 2020. The Board will review the status of the targeted return at its next regularly scheduled board meeting on October 6.
The rationale for the vote was largely based on DCSD’s decision dashboard metrics.
A 100% eLearning model will continue to be offered to elementary school families who prefer that option.
DCSD will implement all health and safety mitigation measures, as outlined in its Road to Return plan, to ensure the safety of our elementary students and staff.
Returning middle and high school students to full-time, in-person learning will require more time to plan for logistical challenges, such as ensuring larger numbers of students can be distanced and that health and safety mitigation measures can be maintained. As such, DCSD staff will soon begin engaging with community members, educators, and staff on the feasibility and potential timing of returning middle school and high school students to full-time, in-person learning in the future.
Additional information about this transition will be forthcoming.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we navigate this ever-changing pandemic.

Boosterthon Update
Families! The weekend is here! We hope you enjoy some much-deserved relaxation this weekend.
Thank you for every share and donation you all have contributed to our fundraiser. This year is an important one for our school. We appreciate everyone’s support as we raise funds for Playground Improvements. If you haven’t registered your student on funrun.com, it’s easy to do this weekend.
Then, consider sharing with extended family and friends.
And if you are able to, consider making a donation as well.
Every share and donation adds up to make a big difference for our school.
If your family does get a donation this weekend, you’ll be part of the Weekend Challenge which is ANY student who gets a NEW pledge of $2 per lap or $60 flat donation over the weekend will earn a bonus prize, The Roll Up Sunglasses!
Thank you for supporting our school.
Have a great weekend!

SAVE THE DATE!!
Thank You Pioneer Volunteers!
We had a massive amount of laminated shapes to cut for our 1st grade teachers and you came to our rescue. A huge thank you to the following parents for taking time to help and the others who offered! Thank you so very much!
A huge thank you to our Pioneer Families for helping us launch our new app for dismissal.
With the returning of 5 days a week in-person learning in October, it will be essential to place the PikMyKid Car Tag in your front window. This will help us with knowing what cars have already left our school parking lot.
If you need to make any changes to your child’s dismissal status such as delegation to a different pickup individual, car line to walker, walker to bus rider, car line to after school
program, or any other change, simply do it in the app.
